Newborns & Infants Chiropractic FAQ

Dr. Tyler is a certified pediatric chiropractor.  He completed a pediatric certification program called The Pediatric Experience.  He also completed several pediatric seminars through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association.  Additionally, he was chosen for a highly sought-after rotation in the pediatric clinic while in Chiropractic School.

We absolutely care for babies!  Babies are unable to tell us anything regarding their well-being.  Does that mean they don’t hurt or don’t need to be adjusted?  Nope.  They do, so we do.  Our Insight Scans help us see where babies need a little extra help.

Birth, while natural, can be stressful on an infant’s developing nervous system. Whether vaginal or cesarean, the birth process can create tension patterns that may affect your baby’s comfort and development. Early chiropractic care helps ensure optimal nervous system function from the start.

Yes. Parents report significant improvements in these common infant challenges after chiropractic care. These conditions often have a neurological component related to Vagus Nerve function, which our gentle adjustments can help address. Removing nervous system interference often allows the body to function better naturally.

Babies can be checked as early as the first few days after birth. Many providers (including myself) have adjusted their own newborns within hours of birth. Early assessment allows us to address any birth-related dysregulation patterns before they become established.

Infant adjustments are extremely gentle—nothing like what you might imagine from adult chiropractic care. We use light fingertip pressure at specific points, and most babies sleep through their adjustments or find them soothing. The process is calm, gentle, and effective.

It doesn’t take special training to watch a birth and understand that it is traumatic for the mom and baby. If you’ve experienced birth you’ve felt the stretching of tissues in the birth canal. Your baby has the pressure of moving down the vaginal canal and out of your pelvis (or stomach!) Birth is hard on both your bodies. Learn more here

Yes, pediatric chiropractic care is extremely safe when performed by a properly trained pediatric chiropractor. The techniques used for infants are gentle and specific. The pressure used is comparable to testing the ripeness of a tomato—just enough to create a positive neurological change without any discomfort.

Kids of all ages can and should see a pediatric chiropractor.  Infants are no exception!

Benefits of Pediatric Chiropractic Care
Toddler Chiropractic Care

Toddlers & Children Chiropractic FAQ

Yes! Children have fewer ear infections and illness after beginning care. This relates to improved drainage and immune function through better nervous system regulation. Our neurological approach helps optimize your child’s inherent healing abilities.

Yes. The nervous system coordinates all sensory processing and focus capabilities. Our care helps balance the nervous system, often making it easier for children to process sensory information and focus appropriately.

Sleep quality depends on proper nervous system function.  Children experience improved sleep after beginning care because their nervous system can more easily shift into “rest and digest” mode after removing the neurological stress. This is especially beneficial for children who seem “wound up” or have difficulty settling down.

We’re well-versed in adjusting active children! Our office is designed to be kid-friendly, and our team is skilled at connecting with children of all temperaments. We can adjust children while they play, read, or even on a parent’s lap. The adjustment itself takes only seconds.

Every child’s care plan is individualized based on their specific needs and neurological assessment findings. Initially, more frequent visits help create new, healthier patterns in the developing nervous system. As improvements stabilize, visit frequency typically decreases.

Teens (13-18 years)
Chiropractic FAQ

Yes. The nervous system governs our stress response and emotional regulation. By improving nervous system function, teens can experience better emotional resilience, reduced anxiety, and improved stress management.

Absolutely. The “tech neck” and postural strain from modern teenage life can create significant stress on the developing spine and nervous system. Our care helps correct postural problems while addressing the neurological patterns that reinforce them.

Yes. Chiropractic care helps optimize nervous system function, which can enhance performance, reduce injury risk, and speed recovery. Many professional and Olympic athletes use regular chiropractic care as part of their training regimen for these reasons.

Teen headaches usually have a neurological and musculoskeletal component that responds well to chiropractic care. Whether related to posture, screen time, stress, or hormonal changes, addressing the underlying nervous system function can help reduce frequency and intensity of headaches.

Absolutely! Many teenage girls experience significant menstrual difficulties as their cycles become established. Chiropractic care provides a natural, drug-free approach to reducing nervous system dysregulation.  The nervous system regulates hormones, and a dysregulated nervous system will struggle to properly regulate those functions. Early intervention can help establish healthier patterns that may continue into adulthood.

Prenatal Chiropractic FAQ

Yes, chiropractic care is not only safe during pregnancy but highly beneficial. Dr. Tyler has specialized training in prenatal care and uses techniques specifically designed for pregnant women, including tables that accommodate growing bellies and approaches that avoid putting pressure on the abdomen.

As your pregnancy progresses, there are many things going on.  Your baby is growing, your internal organs have to shift, a hormone called Relaxin is produced which loosens your ligaments and joints, and you have to start carrying more weight which can strain different muscles.  We can address these changes and make sure your pelvis, spine, and nervous system are firing on all cylinders during pregnancy.

Benefits often include reduced back and pelvic pain, improved sleep, easier mobility, better balance, and optimized pelvic alignment for birth. Many women also report easier labor and delivery.

You can begin care at any point during pregnancy, but many women find it beneficial to start early in the first trimester. This proactive approach helps manage changes as they occur rather than addressing problems after they become severe. Women already under chiropractic care often continue seamlessly through pregnancy with adapted techniques.

Care can continue safely right up until delivery. In fact, many women schedule adjustments in the final weeks to help optimize pelvic biomechanics for birth. Some even visit their chiropractor after their water breaks but before active labor begins!

While primarily focused on musculoskeletal and neurological function, many women report improvements in various pregnancy symptoms after beginning care. This likely relates to better nervous system regulation, which affects all body systems, including digestive function and hormone balance.

Care frequency depends on your specific needs and how your body is adapting to pregnancy. Some women benefit from weekly care, while others do well with bi-weekly visits. As your due date approaches, more frequent visits may be recommended to help maintain optimal pelvic alignment for birth.

Prenatal chiropractic care may optimize pelvic alignment and function, potentially reducing certain factors that lead to C-section recommendations.

Sometimes C-Sections are needed, sometimes not. Our C-Section Rate is too High. For many years now, C-sections have accounted for close to ⅓ of births.  Most medical professional organizations state that the C-section rate should be somewhere around 10-15%.  Other more holistic professional bodies believe the rate should be closer to 5%.  Read more here

We would love to care for you and your baby after birth!  Whenever you are comfortable coming in, we want to make sure things are falling back into place appropriately.  Chiropractic care is great for encouraging the healing process.

The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment method that addresses sacral misalignment and reduces tension in pelvic muscles and ligaments. This can help create more room in the pelvis for the growing baby and may help optimize fetal positioning for birth. It’s particularly helpful when babies are in breech or other non-optimal positions.

Yes. Dr. Tyler is Webster Certified.

Chiropractors are not trained or qualified to turn babies via ECV.  However, Webster technique has shown much success in ensuring the baby is in the proper position for birth.  Webster Technique is a specialized pregnancy training certification in chiropractic that gives the chiropractor added expertise in the treatment of pregnant women. Adult Chiropractic FAQ

Your first visit includes a detailed health history, a thorough examination, and neurological scans to assess your nervous system function. We’ll explain our findings in clear language and recommend a personalized care plan based on your specific needs. Depending on our findings, you may receive your first adjustment on this visit or on your follow-up if x-rays are requested.

Our neurologically-focused approach emphasizes precise, specific adjustments that address the root causes of health challenges rather than just symptoms. We use advanced technology to measure nervous system function and track progress objectively. Our goal is to help your body function optimally from a neurological perspective, which often resolves issues that haven’t responded to other approaches.

Chiropractic care is very safe.  Not only is it safe on its own, but when compared to modern medicine any potential side effects are quite rare and usually very mild.  Many studies have shown this to be the case, and serious adverse effects from chiropractic care are extraordinarily uncommon.

Chiropractors earn a Doctor of Chiropractic from accredited chiropractic schools.  So yes, chiropractors are doctors.

“More than a tickle, but way less than paying your taxes” (name that movie)… Adjustments are not usually painful.  It is common for the adjustment to be uncomfortable for a moment until it is completed, but as soon as the adjustment has been made there is typically a feeling of relief.  If you are nervous about being adjusted, let us know and we will walk you through every step of the process.

The popping or cracking sound is called joint cavitation.  This is common, and it is usually a sure sign that the adjustment was successful.  Adjustments do not necessarily require the popping sound, but most people enjoy it because of the sensation of relief that comes with it.  The latest theory of what exactly causes this is that the joint pulls gases out of the surrounding tissues and fluid which causes the sound.

Your autonomic nervous system governs your stress response. Many adults get stuck in “fight-or-flight” mode due to chronic stress, making it difficult to relax. Our adjustments help restore balance between your sympathetic (“fight-or-flight”) and parasympathetic (“rest-and-digest”) systems, allowing your body to better manage stress naturally.

Your nervous system controls every function in your body, including hormone regulation. The nerves that exit from your lower spine communicate directly with your reproductive organs. When these nerves experience interference due to spinal misalignments, it can affect the proper function of your reproductive system, potentially contributing to menstrual irregularities, pain, and hormonal imbalances.

  • Menstrual cramps and pain
  • Irregular cycles
  • PMS symptoms (mood swings, irritability, bloating)
  • Hormonal headaches
  • Lower back pain during menstruation
  • Pelvic pain
  • Symptoms of conditions like PCOS or endometriosis (as complementary care)

An adjustment is simply a force applied through a joint in order the make a change to the nervous system.  When a joint is tight, fixated, or restricted, it affects or is affected by the nervous system.  In order to get your nervous system fully functioning again, we have to find these problem areas called subluxations, and adjust them.  This restores proper communication between the brain, spinal cord, and body.

No. Specializing in pediatric, pregnancy, and family care like we do, we have very specific treatment protocols that we follow to get the best results and meet your goals.  Health insurance contracts limit the care we can give you because they consider subluxation-focused care not medically necessary. Medical care focuses on the treatment of symptoms, whereas subluxation-centered chiropractic (like we do) is a cause-based approach focused on actual long-term healing and restoration. That being said, HSA and Flex-type accounts work perfectly for this type of care!
